Introductions (because they are polite)

Hi I'm Lacey, I live in a tiny town in North East Utah with my Husband Ben, our 5 children, and one super spoiled yorkie. By day I work in childcare and teach Preschool, and Ben is a corrections officer.  We live in a old home that was built in 1917 that has had many additions and renovations done in the last 108 years. We love DIY and making our home uniquely ours. I love anything old, crusty, rusty, and funky. I like my belongings to be able to tell you a story just by looking at them.

If you would have asked me 6 years ago what my home decor style was I would have said Farmhouse in all its Joanna Gaines glory. When we bought our home and had a basic renovation done I had all the walls painted white, and gray LVP floors put in. Everything was white and gray. While it wasn't a bad thing and it was really beautiful, it wasn't at all the fixer upper dream I thought it would be. It felt cold and sterile and lacked any personality. So if you ask me now, I would definitely say that my style is Country Farmhouse Eclectic. I love me some ship lap, I love old rusty junk, I love a good mid century modern piece of furniture, I LOVE THE COLOR GREEN!!, I love Milk Glass, I love copper, I love old books, and I love taking things and using them in different ways than they are meant for.

Ben is along for the ride. He trusts me with the decor choices for our home, and he helps all my ideas and visions come to life. There are sometimes when a project gets done and he will say "you know I really wasn't sure that was going to look good, but I love it now. Guess I should just believe in your ideas." He really is the sweetest man and my biggest cheerleader and support. Do my ideas always turn out? Heck no. But we eventually get them right in the end.

When Ben and I are not working we like to go thrifting in our small town We only have 2 thrift stores so the pickins can be pretty slim. We have a Deseret Industries (everyone just calls it the D.I. if you're from Utah you know) and we have a store called Neighbors Thrift. There is one more but its hard to navigate and you never know when they will be open and nothing is priced so we rarely go there. I do scour face book market place and sometimes find good junk there. We are about 3 hours from Salt Lake City and do travel there every couple of months to visit family or have to have some fun. We make it a point to hit as many thrift stores and junk shops as we can each trip. I can't wait to write about our next big city trip and haul.

With all that being said I hope you stick around and keep reading about us and our dream of making our little thrifty DIY business a reality.  We would love to be at home more with our children, doing the things that make our hearts and home happy.
